Getting Off the Food Grid: Better for You AND Your Wallet

Simple Mom posted this great article today titled “Get Cultured, Invest in Stocks, & Take a Nice, Long Soak: Next Steps in Getting Off the Food Grid.”

The simple tips outlined in this article are easy steps anyone can take to boost the nutritional value of the food they consume while simultaneously decreasing dependence on the big money name super markets. What a deal!

On my list of life goals to accomplish:

  1. Learn how to can fruits and veggies
  2. Learn how to pickle or ferment foods
  3. Learn how to garden BIG time
  4. Learn how to dehydrate foods
  5. Get me some chickens for eggs and (maybe) meat too

I don’t think that Pastor Joe would appreciate me building a chicken coop on their back deck though. We’ll just leave it with my strawberry, tomato, cucumer, pea, and lettuce plants for now. One step at a time… one step at a time…

  1. Awesome. I planted a garden this year and plan to can tomatoes. Also I knew a family in seattle who raised chickens under their deck!
